Coastside Child Development Center (CCDC) was established in 1978 (as Coastside Infant/Toddler Center) in response to the coastside communities need for infant and toddler child care. Today, we provide respectful, individualized early care and education of children from birth to age 5.
At CCDC we understand that getting ready for the future begins at birth. The first 5 years lay a foundation that influences the effectiveness of all subsequent educational efforts and is a period of incredible growth in all areas of a child’s development. We also understand the importance of the balance between cognitive and literacy skills for children with comparable attention to the emotional and social development of children.
Interwoven through our program is the dedication to fostering relationships based on mutual trust and respect, thereby promoting each child’s confidence, self-understanding, self-esteem, and self-motivation. Within this context children are also offered opportunities to experience social interactions and develop independence and problem solving skills.
CCDC's curriculum meets the guidelines and standards of the California Department of Education. Our educational program is play based and involves the principles of emergent curriculum, Erik Erikson's stages of social-emotional development and Jean Piaget's theories of how children think and learn. Our curriculum provides a variety of learning experiences that encourage a positive self-image and a joy in the learning process.
The care and education of children is something we do in connection with families, rather than for them. We feel a strong commitment to family involvement, and encourage families to play a vital and vocal role in their child’s experience at CCDC. Together we create the optimal atmosphere for quality care and healthy development for children.
