Services for Children

CCDC offers both part-time and full-time child care and education for children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years.

Classroom Approximate Ages Maximum Group Size Maximum Classroom SizeAdult - Child Ratio
Infants 6 weeks - 16 mos. 6 children 12 children 1 : 3
Toddlers 16 mos. - 30 mos. 8 children 15 children 1 : 4
Preschool 30 mos. - 5 yrs. 8 children 18 children 1 : 8

The ages of each group is kept flexible so that transitions from group to group are based more on development than age. Each of our three classrooms is a separate, specially-designed space that meets the unique needs of the children cared for in that space. In addition, throughout the day children are cared for in small groups whenever possible. We do this by spending small group time in our Serenity Garden, decks and inside and outside play areas.

Our property is a little over an acre in size and is surrounded on one side by the Half Moon Bay Golf course, by a few neighbors about a block away on another side, and by open fields and hills on the other two sides. On a clear day, we can see the ocean about 2 miles to the west. It is a quiet setting inhabited mostly by us and the hawks and other wildlife in the surrounding fields.

Services for Families

Our services at CCDC extend beyond the care and education of young children. At CCDC we offer parent conferences and support for every family. In addition, we strive to provide parent education in the form of printed materials, consultations with administrative staff and parent workshops.

Requirements for Parents

At CCDC, there is an expectation that parents will be a vital part and vocal component of their child's experience at the Center. Some of this involvement translates into economic savings. For example, parents take turns doing the laundry in each room, saving the program the cost of keeping clean sheets and blankets used for napping. Each family is required to work a total of nine hours each year on maintenance days scheduled two times a year. Projects completed through maintenance days include repair and painting projects, mowing and trimming and other yard work, and lots of good old-fashioned scrubbing! Parents are also expected to help with fundraising, which includes the Pillar Point Run in May, Pumpkin Festival in October, and our annual major fundraiser in September. Parents help us raise $20-25,000 of the operating budget each year through these events.
